As three-dimensional graphics became more prevalent, the term was used to describe a technique whereby flat images are seamlessly integrated into complicated three-dimensional scenes. That is, figures generated by either custom hardware or by software alone were all referred to as sprites. As computer performance improved, this optimization became unnecessary and the term evolved to refer specifically to the two dimensional images themselves that were integrated into a scene. Sprites were originally invented as a method of quickly compositing several images together in two-dimensional video games using special hardware. I am not aware of any compatibility issues in any of those (3) mobos. In computer graphics, a sprite (also known by other names see Synonyms below) is a two-dimensional image or animation that is integrated into a larger scene. I have a PGM I and a PGM II mobo and both play all the carts I have - which is most of the library. Great games: Knights of Valour 2 and 3, Oriental Legend 2, and DDP DOJ Tamashi.Īs for PGM 3, that is referring to the 3rd release of the first mobo and is typically referred to as PGM I, PGM II, and PGM III so as to not confuse w/the PGM 2. I think there were 28 carts released - a few weird puzzle photo and tile matching games, but the rest is legit.Īgain, ^those are rare to find, typically bought direct from the HK and JP arcade stores. The games from the PGM 2 hardware will be sold w/a compatible motherboard - there are only (5) PGM 2 games.Īll the carts you come across will fit into the cart slot on ^that mobo. PGM 2 was released much later, very very expensive and very few sales. I venture that 99% of the games you see will be PGM 1. My luck I would by a game that wouldn't work with that motherboard. So isn't there like PGM 1,2,and 3 systems, I am assuming that that system 3 is backwards compatible? The different PGM systems still kinda confuses me.
